Sean Fleming

Starting his career with Bain & Company, first in Toronto and then in Los Angeles, Sean has extensive experience across North America energy & natural resources sectors, including oil & gas, mining (open pit and underground), and utilities. This includes due diligence and investment-focused work, but also a strong focus on value creation for portfolio companies and performance improvement at operating facilities where he's led efforts and transformations worth hundreds of millions of dollars in value.

To SkiesFifty, Sean brings a deep understanding of the energy sector across the US, and an eagerness to partner with leading companies to rebuild the energy and aviation industries along more sustainable lines.

As an investment principle, Sean is responsible for identifying and evaluating target investments, developing investment strategies, and supporting companies through targeted advisory.

Why is sustainability in aviation so important to you?

As a former consultant, I’ve taken hundreds of flights in my career, and see the huge value that comes from rapid global travel. Reducing the carbon footprint of this vital civilizational good is key to enabling long-term human flourishing.

What excites you about the SkiesFifty mission?

There is a huge gap between the current experience of the flying public and the innovation happening at new and growing companies around the world. Seeing those innovations get deployed to make a more comfortable, less polluting flying experience is a big problem, and one worth working hard to solve.

How do you balance life with work?

My wife and I both love to cook, and this gives us a daily chance to unplug and focus on the present. Living in California also means surfing and cycling year-round.

What is on your Spotify playlist right now?

I recently spent a few months living in Nashville, which kicked off a resurgence in my love for country music. Among those still writing new music, Charley Crockett, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Colter Wall are on heavy rotation.
